About
The Million Dollar Portfolio is owned and operated by James Wilcox, entrepreneur, web developer and owner of The Proficient Investor and Wilcox Studios, and the Investing page on the Million Euro Wiki.
The goal behind this blog is to attempt to enlighten, educate and entertain with a focus on using my years of experience in the stock market and the world wide web to produce a net worth of over one million dollars. There is no time limit to achieve this goal and the attempt is to make this happen through positive reinforcement of the idea that anyone can get rich online. Anyone can make money online, it just takes patience, time and a little elbow grease.
I started building websites in 1991 using a University of California unix machine and the VI editor. Back then the only browser available was called NCSA Mosaic which became the base code for Netscape and ultimately Firefox. My earliest website was a local movie review/e-zine that had art, poetry, movie reviews, and personal opinion pieces. It would be several years before the web matured to something more marketable.
By 1998 I was becomming more and more interested in the stock market and decided I would take to investing. Within a short time I was able to triple my original investment of $1000.00 in a small company called CD-Now. They would later be acquired by internet Giant Amazon.com.
Since then I have continued to seek out little known companies as well as other opportunities on the internet to invest in and grow my capital. This blog is a continuation of that drive and my hope is through my writing and experience others will have opportunities open for them.
A blog is nothing without a user base and I thank everyone that has subscribed to my RSS feeds and reads this blog, whether it’s every day or once a week or even once a year. Thank you for subscribing and I look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.
