New York or Bust

It has been over a week since I posted anything on this blog and there’s a very good reason for it. I hope you were entertained by other happenings in your world while I was away.

I took a few days off work to head to the east coast. I spent the past 6 days in Brooklyn, NY. What an amazing state and city. Brooklyn is awesome. You know how you hear these stories about how this or that is better here and there etc? It really is true.

We stayed in this 3 bedroom apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY for 5 days. Let me tell you, it was so great and much cheaper than a hotel room for 7 people. It was also right off the C line subway trains and only minutes from the 2,3 lines at Atlantic station. If you are from NY you know what I am talking about…for others, basically it means within 20 minutes I was in downtown Manhattan eating a Sabrett hot dog with saur kraut and mustard ok? Yeah I had many of those because they ruled!

I’ve never been to New York before so everything was totally new but getting around the subway was so easy. Probably because I take so much public transportation where I live in California. I don’t drive and in fact, I don’t even own a driver’s license. I have to say I love the subway system in New York and wish there was something even close to that here in the San Francisco Bay Area. To that end, Grand Central Station was amazing. 117 tracks take passengers to and from this station to all points outside New York City. The place is huge and it really feels like a completely different underground world.

As you can tell, this post has nothing to do with making money online. I wanted to tell you that making tons of money is useless if you do nothing with it. Aside from the trip costs, we only spent a couple hundred dollars on food and gifts. I’m not a big shopper and when you are toting around a 17 month old it’s hard to do any kind of shopping for yourself because all you can think about is making them happy. That being said, he LOVED FAO Schwartz and we had to get him a little “Po” panda to take home.

New York is huge and you can’t possibly see everything in a few days so I just recommend picking some key things you really feel fulfill that New York experience. For me it meant Wall Street, Central Park, The Staten Island Ferry, A Museum or two, riding the subway and having some authentic Brooklyn Pizza and Stromboli from “Not Ray’s Pizza”. I’ll argue with anyone that is the best pizza in Brooklyn.

So, how are you spending all your hard earned bloggin cash this summer?
