RSS Readership Drive
As you can see, my RSS readership is still under double digits. Granted, this is a somewhat new blog if you consider 6 months new.
Traffic has increased incredibly since then and I now get a decent number of daily visits but I need more. By the end of the year I would like to see my RSS readership grow to at least 20. I don’t think that’s too much to shoot for. From October 25 to November 24 I had 213 visits. Since May of this year, my alexa rank has gone from over 2 million to under 500,000. That’s pretty impressive. A lot of that has to do with the linking farms I participated in a while back with John Cow and friends.
My current traffic project involves the advertising trade-off of Entrecard. Entrecard is actually very cool. Unlike the blogrush widget(which I removed) Entrecard is more like a business card. Instead of relying on post titles to bring in traffic, Entrecard holders are encouraged to visit other sites to drop their card because doing so builds up credits. With enough credits you can then advertise on other blogs. Sites like JohnChow.com that might have been too expensive to advertise on for even a day can now be targeted with Entrecard for only a couple dozen credits. The best part is it’s all free. It’s the best “scratch my back, i’ll scratch yours” system I have seen and it’s actually fun to browse the sites, read a little and drop your card there. To boot you have total control of who advertises on your site, so you can approve or deny ads that aren’t appropriate for your audience. If you haven’t done so already, go get your Entrecard. Don’t worry, I’m not making anything off plugging it…I just think it’s a damn cool widget.
How does this affect RSS counts?
RSS readership is the motherlode when it comes to reader loyalty. Why? Simply because people are too busy to be bookmarking all these sites and blogs and sometimes you just want to know if a topic is interesting or not on the blogs you do read. I love being able to quickly scan my favorite blogs and see what they are talking about without making the time commitment to open their site and peruse the whole thing. Plus, getting blog posts by email is even better.
So, that being said. I need your help. I need YOU to subscribe to my email or RSS feeds. Then I need you to tell your friends because you have more credibility with them than I do. Word of mouth is always the best way to advertise. So, if you like this blog and you are a subscriber, spread the gospel. I just may have that one piece of information that helps somebody out so do them a favor and tell them about my blog. If they are investors, tell them about my investment blog, The Proficient Investor.
One last incentive for subscribing. Right now I am giving away a book called “The Millionaire Mentor” by Greg S. Reed. To win this, you have to follow the instructions in the RSS feed so subscribe now! I will be giving away other prizes in the future including a signed copy of An American Hedge Fund: How I Made $2 Million as a Stock Operator & Created a Hedge Fund by Timothy Sykes. I want to beat John Chow’s readership…you can help me do it!
Find out what I am doing right now by following me on Twitter! If you like this post then please consider subscribing to my full feed RSS. You can also subscribe by Email and have new posts sent directly to your inbox.
