If you’ve been keeping up with the Joneses on this story, you know that the Million Euro Wiki (MEW) has been auctioned by its creator, John Cow.

JC decided to auction the MEW not because he doesn’t believe in the project, rather because personal commitments are preventing him from fully devoting time to the site to make it really successful.  The decision was made to auction the site to a community member (meaning a page owner) who bid the highest.

Already, he has received a gross amount of criticism over this decision.  I don’t understand what people have to complain about.  JC has promised to see that the same quality of marketing be done that has been done so far and he plans to fully support MEW going forward as he will still be actively promoting the site on his own blog and also still promoting the affiliate program and iPod giveaway which the new owners have agreed to continue.

So the way I see it, this is a good thing.  Someone who cares about the success of the project and has the time to spend marketing and supporting the site will be running it and that’s always good.

Sign up for your own Million Euro Wiki page.  You could win one of 18 brand new Apple iPod Touch (like I did) .  If you use coupon code “Flagusco” you can get 10% off your purchase.  A page on the MEW costs $100 and you own it for the life of the site.  Over 70 pages have been sold so far, so if you want a chance to win an iPod, the earlier you get in the more chances you have.
