Good question.

The Million Dollar Portfolio actually has nothing to do with stocks, bonds, investing or even my artwork. I started this blog to track something quite interesting.

Today I found out about the Million Dollar Experiment by Steve Pavlina. His entire blog is actually full of useful information and I find much of it not only interesting but insightful. So what is this experiment?

The Million Dollar Experiment centers around the following intention:

In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I intend $1,000,000 to come into my life and into the lives of everyone who holds this intention.

What does this have to do with me?

I am reading a book written in the early part of the 20th century by Wallace D. Wattles titled The Science of Getting Rich. The book is about the “Law of Attraction” – The idea that positive thoughts can not only bring about positive results but that your just thinking of things happening can manifest them.

I believe the Million Dollar Experiment is along the same lines as this. Some call this visualization or positive self reinforcement. It’s not a bad thing, and you aren’t being all hippy-dippy new agey to think these things. Every great motivator and successful individual truly and wholeheartedly believed they were going to succeed before they even started. This is the essence of The Law of Attraction. The universe wants you to be happy, to be profitable, successful, positive. When we are happy, at peace, we tend to want to help others achieve the same results. It’s these positive vibrations that make good things happen the world around. These ideas have been popularized in the movie The Secret (Extended Edition).

My part in this is simple. I plan to be aware of opportunities as they find me and to accept them for what they are no matter how small or large. I plan to document the positive things that happen to me that somehow relate to the Million Dollar Experiment.

Some of these things may in fact be directly related to the portfolio site but they may also be related to investments I make or other things that bring money into my life. I will try to track them to the best of my ability which may mean this blog is updated frequently or hardly at all. It is, after all an experiment!
